The redesign process began with a focus on functionality. To create a versatile horizontal logo lockup, we needed to complete the bear’s figure. This required us to redraw the bear, ensuring that it flowed seamlessly in the new format. As we worked, it became clear that there was an opportunity to bring the bear to life in a more realistic way. By refining its proportions and shape, we gave it depth and movement that added a dynamic touch, without straying from the spirit of the original design.

One challenge we faced was the bear's front paw, which in the old design had a joint that bent awkwardly to make the foot touch the ground. This quirk, while subtle, impacted the overall impression of the logo. By addressing this oddity during the redesign, we were able to create a more natural and polished depiction of the bear.

Beyond the artwork adjustments, we defined a consistent font and color palette for Zoo Montana’s branding. These elements, often overlooked, play a crucial role in creating a cohesive brand image. A well-chosen palette and typography ensure that every application of the logo—from signage to merchandise—feels unified and professional.

The end result is a logo that stays true to Zoo Montana’s original identity while elevating its visual appeal. This refresh highlights the importance of regular logo evaluations; as brands evolve, their logos must adapt to reflect their growth, vision, and values.
