Think Billings is the new business recruitment arm for Big Sky Economic Development. Tasked with outreach and bringing businesses to Yellowstone County, Think Billings helps growing companies discover the opportunities that Billings has to offer by connecting them to the resources they need to succeed. Their goal is to bring business to Billings. They came to us knowing that it was time to update their language and visuals with a full rebrand.
For businesses who are looking to expand or relocate, Think Billings is your partner for success. Connecting you to the region’s pioneering leaders and providing you the western workforce edge. We are Montana’s city, where you matter and your business possibilities are as wide open as our horizons. Come build a legacy.
Goal
The goal for this project was to rebrand and give Think Billings its own identity. Billings has a handful of organizations and brands that all work to attract people to Billings. It was important we differentiate Think Billings to eliminate confusion.
Hurdles
The biggest challenge on this project was coming up with a fresh take on western. We wanted to stay away from visuals that were too gimmicky and old fashioned which in the business realm could be viewed as out of date or not with the times.
Approach
For Think Billings we wanted a brand that was modern yet western but wasn’t too much of either, everything needed to balance. We aimed to do this in a variety of ways. For example, the ‘TB’ brand icon is paired with a clean modern font. Imagery used is unmistakably modern yet can feature a black and white texture overlay that gives it an aged effect. Collateral is designed to feel comfortable and clean with plenty of white space featuring the icon branded to provide a distinctly western element.
Result
Think Billings has a new brand identity and strong brand messaging that is as unique as Montana’s city. It’s strong, modern, speaks to business and is unmistakably Montana.
